As I think I have told you, I am planning to sail for
France on August 4th. I expect to see General Eisenhower to discuss
the Lindsay Rogers report, etc., and later to go down to Spain for a
look around. Tom Betts is planning to meet me there with his car and
we hope to get about the country a bit. If I can do any errands for you
either in France or Spain, let me know. Ham will be here while I'm
away and George Franklin also.

Dear Mallory:
Here is a letter from Count Della Rocca, whom I have
known for a long time. I think the contents explain themselves. He
made quite a record with the United States Forces during the Italian
invasion. Before that he was associated with many Americans in busi-
ness natters, during the '28 - '29 period he represented American
banking interests, and at one time he was in the Italian Government.
His background is very wide and apparently he has some money.
I think that if he could find a spot in some internei.
tional field he ought to be encouraged because his background is some-
what unique. I have written a letter to Foster Dulles about him as
well, but I would greatly appreciate it if you could, with your wide
contacts, give him some good steers.
