We are writing to invite you to a dinner on Thursday Se tember
in New York City. The dinner is being held by the council for Council mem-
bers and their husbands and wives to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the
organization. The main speaker for the evening will be the Secretary of
State.
In view of the special character of this event, the Council is de-
parting from tradition to invite a number of non-Council members, together
with their wives or husbands, to be its guests at the dinner, which will
be held at the Americana Hotel, and to attend a pre-dinner reception being
held for them at the House of the Council. Special invitees will be leaders
in Congressional and Executive positions directly related to international
affairs, members of the ambassadorial corps, and officials of the United
Nations.
We very much hope that you will be free to join us for this event.
Your official invitation containing details will come to you in mid-August.
We wanted, however, to write to you at this time so that you could, if you
wish, mark this date in advance on your fall calendar.
