Many thanks for your letter and please forgive the
long delay in replying, but I have been travelling out of the
country during much of the last few months. Your offer of
assistance is greatly appreciated. It is nice to know, that
we have that kind of support. Your request is a difficult
problem, and I wish I could be more helpful, but such
assistance has to be certified by the Secretary of Defense
or the President to be in the national interest. I'm .sorry,
but that is the true situation.
I hope this finds you well and that you will call or stop
in the next time you are in this area. With every good wish
to you and yours for a happy holiday season and a prosperous
