I found your presentation most interesting and I know the cadets did
too. It certainly was a rare opportunity for them to get some valuable

have made our Distinguished Speakers Program the success that it is.

I personally would like to thank you for a really excellent presentation
to the cadets last Thursday evening. Your talk has been a topic of
discussion - at the "secret" level, of course - for the past several
days. Indeed, you gave the intelligence career field a badly needed shot
in the arm. The natural emphasis in an institution such as this is on
the combat mission. Therefore, I particularly appreciated your
presentation because it contributed greatly to cadet awareness that there
are other important career fields.
We certainly will take advantage of your kind offer to visit you in
Washington. We try to take a group of cadets to the Capital every
spring to visit Congress and selected governmental agencies. Your
organization will be high on our list next year.

Mr. Helms has referred to me your letter of 15 November
inviting him to speak at the U. S. Air Force Academy in April.
As you know, he will leave CIA in the spring for another U. S.
Government position.
We have agreed in principle that a senior CIA officer
should accept the invitation to speak to the cadets. Since Director
Helms will not be here, I propose to accept your invitation to speak
in his stead.
If this is satisfactory, I suggest that you have a member of
your staff contact my Executive Assistant, Area
