CIVILIAN AIDE
TO
THE SECRETARY OF THE ARMY
March 3, 1975
LTG Vernon Walters
Deputy Director C.I.A.
Washington, D.C.
It has now been two weeks since your talk to the annual Kiwanis-
Rotary meeting and the accolades are still pouring in. Your speech
was undoubtedly the best of the year although many Rotarians and
Kiwanians are stopping me on the street to tell me it was the best
address they have ever heard. One Rotarian has played the tape over
six times ......and he was present for the speech! Our professor of
Naval Science, who coordinates all three ROTC programs, has duplicated
a tape so that all of our cadets and midshipmen may profit from your
experience and analyses. Dick, you gave your agency such a lift in
this community that our Rotarians and Kiwanians would castrate any of
their friends in Congress who dealt unfairly with Central Intelligence.
Enclosed are a few bulletins which give a brief synopsis of your
talk, Thank you again for being with us in Columbus. If I can ever
reciprocate, please call me.
Dear Dick?
Cordi al ly,
4 1 y/2
John T. Bonner, Jr.
