A long-term schedule for all other courses, both internal and external, is in preparation and will be issued prior to 15 May 1954. It is anticipated that this service will assist training officers in arranging the orderly release of personnel for requisite training and the prepara- tion of training plans for personnel scheduled to return from overseas assignments. The Agency Weekly Indoctrination Program is continuing to serve a useful purpose to Intelligence Advisory Committee agencies. The Director of Intelligence, USAF, has indicated that this Program has become a regular part of the training for new officers coming into the intelligence field and for officers returning from overseas assignments. Mr. W. Park Armstrong, Jr., Special Assistant to the Secretary of State, has indicated his intention to request authoriza- tion for the attendance of selected officers of the Depart- ment of State. This course is designed to familiarize on-duty personnel of the Administrative Offices, who have not had previous intelligence training, with the principles and methods of intelligence work, the organization and functioning of the intelligence community, and with the nature of the threat posed by the USSR to United States security interests. Currently, attendance is limited to middle-grade personnel with a minimum of two years* experience in the Agency. A seminar has been concluded on a proposed War Plans Staff Officers Course.
