Rear Admiral R.H. Hillenkoetter, U.S. Navy
U.S. Naval Attache
Paris, France
Dear Admiral Hillenkoetter,
Belated, but most hearty congratulations on your well-deserved promotion.
It came much later than many had hoped and expected.
Now that you have a Flag.. I earnestly hope you have need for a chief yeoman,
and that I mav be able to occu that ce. You will remember that while
aboard the and it would have been almost im-
possible to be ordered to duty with you at that time. However, I reverted
to Chief Yeoman last August, and at own request was ordered to shore duty
here at the
After seven months of duty here, I am quite convinced that this duty is far
from being the better type and my duties as yeoman for the First Lieutenant
are much like a Public Works employee-- very departed from regular yeoman
duties. In other words, I have become unhappy for the first time in "this
mants outfit" during a period of almost ten years.
I feel qualified for any staff duties, having been attached to a submarine
squadron flag for over three years, being removed by discharged, and later
was attached to a submarine force staf STA
for over four nears, being detached to
I reiterate that it would be delightful to serve under you at any duty and
will greatly appreciate anything you may do to have me ordered to your
organization.
Sincerely hope you are enjoying fine health and the duty is much to your
liking. Very best regards.
Most respectfully,
(;*'*I U. S. Navy.
