1. Large number of captured documents relating to German
activities with respect to methods of psychological handling
of prisoners and slave labor are known to be in the archives of
the War Crimes Commission, Nurnburg. In addition, there is
evidence that information may have found its way there dealing with
certain aspects of experiments with biologic and chemical warfare
as well as radiation.
2. A team from CIA reviewed a large number of repositories
of captured documents but was unable to make a survey of the
material at Nurnburg because of the dispersion of the acquisitions
in numerous repositories, the absence of a central locator system
and the incomplete cataloging in the individual repositories.
It is believed that much intelligence information of great
value to CIA both from the substantive and other points of view
exists in these files and it is requested that consideration be
given to the initiation of arrangements for reconnaissance survey
of the repositories with later intent of acquisition of selected
materials not now required by the War Crimes Commission.
