Declassified in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2012/08/06: CIA-RDP80R01731 R003300190032-5 2 April l953 P,IR"i ORANDU JI FOR: ?sir. Du11es SUBJECT Tnterdepartmental Defector Committee I have just heard from Jim Hunt that I I has been responsible for a suggestion that the PSB as such should have a permanent full-time member of the Interdepartmental Defector Committee. ivr. 1-Iunt has expressed mild concern about this point which he thinks may be raised at the PSB luncheon today, and has indicated a preference that the Committee membership be left as it is. Mr. Huntts reasoning is as follows. This is a small, compact, effective operating Corm ittee. The members know each other well and each person there has direct operational interests. It is feared that the addition of new members might inhibit the free discussion between the present members and. that it might open the door to more requests for membership. As matters now stand, the Defector Committee can always brin ; in a representative of arr Agency or organization whose interests are affected or whose help is needed. This is done on an ad hoc basis and Mr. Hunt would prefer to have it left this v ay. STAT Declassified in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2012/08/06: CIA-RDP80R01731 R003300190032-5
