of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, on introduction of the
intelligence charter legislation. OLC,

47.1 -1 LEGISLATION Met with Ron Gainer and
Rodger Paisley, at the Department of Justice, to discuss the Agency's
concerns with the defenses provision in S. 1437, the omnibus revision to
the Federal criminal code. OGC,
also attended. (See Memorandum tor the Record.)
LEGISLATION Called Bob Carlstrom.,
to ask if the Administration had formulated a position on H. R. 10400.
Mr. Carlstrom stated that there is no Administration pose 1.on at this
time. He also indicated that the hearings scheduled for 16 February 1978
at which Attorney General Bell is slated for testimony have now been
postponed until 28 February. Mr. Carlstrom informed me that the
staff attorney in the Department of Justice handling H. R. 10400 is Dave
Barrett.
