INFORMATION REPORT
(Fort Nikolayev Island at the mouth
of the Dnepr E ver was heavily fortified. On the southern side of the island
there were nine 120 mm guns,whiie on the western side, there were three
such guns. The detached breakwater about 160 meters north of the island
was 500 meters long and the quay en. tIh3 island was not continuous. Rather,
it was interrupted by seven large sea-level gates about 25 meters in width
which were always closed.
