1. There was a conspicuous movement of troops in Riga (N 56-57, E 24-06) during
the first half of June 1953. Infantry officers were observed travelling in jeeps
through the streets of Riga in various directions. Small convoys of covered
trucks with troops and artillery were observed travelling through Riga in the
direction of Bauska (N 56-24, E 24-11) and Yelgava (N 56-39, E 2342).
2e During the night of 11 June 1953, 30 trucks carrying guns left Riga in the
direction of Yelgava.
