RD 50X1-HUM THE SOURCE EVALUATIONS IN THIS REPORT ARE DEFINITIVE. THE APPRAISAL OF CONTENT IS TENTATIVE. (FOR KEY. SEE REVERSE) 1. Wismut AG has recently ordered from the Elektrochemisches Kombinat Bitterfeld (EKB) 6,000 tons of potassium chlorate and 4,000 tons of,potassium permanganate for delivery in 1954 and, in addition, has signed a contract with EKB for-the annual delivery of these quantities for the next ten years. At the same time Wismut has cancelled its order for sulphuric acid deliveries. 2. The delivery of these chemicals to Wismut AG by EKB will necessitate the latter's cutting certain 1954 export orders since this year's production. has already been allotted. Work to expand production capacity is to begin immediately. Production capacity is to be increased to 9,000 tons in the case of potassium chlorate and 5,000 tons in' that of potassium permanganate. Both are good export items and the extra production of 3,000-tons and 1,000 tons respectively can easily be disposed of. The new plant should be functioning fully by 1956.
