1. Wismut AG has recently ordered from the Elektrochemisches Kombinat
Bitterfeld (EKB) 6,000 tons of potassium chlorate and 4,000 tons
of,potassium permanganate for delivery in 1954 and, in addition,
has signed a contract with EKB for-the annual delivery of these
quantities for the next ten years. At the same time Wismut has
cancelled its order for sulphuric acid deliveries.
2. The delivery of these chemicals to Wismut AG by EKB will necessitate
the latter's cutting certain 1954 export orders since this year's
production. has already been allotted. Work to expand production
capacity is to begin immediately. Production capacity is to be
increased to 9,000 tons in the case of potassium chlorate and
5,000 tons in' that of potassium permanganate. Both are good export
items and the extra production of 3,000-tons and 1,000 tons
respectively can easily be disposed of. The new plant should be
functioning fully by 1956.
