J6zsef JAMBRIK, who prior to 1951..:.. was Chief of Government buildings, and~the residences of leadinlr members of the MDP and n? 50X1-HUM Division X (Foeoszt:~ly), known as the Party Guard (Part O.erseg), consists of both plain-clothes and uniformed guards. Prior to the summer of 1951, the Party Guard was a part of Division III, after which it was established as a separate and. independent unit .and designated Divison X. The plain-clothes guards act as body guards for leading members of the MDP (Hungarian Workerst (Communist) Party), for the top-ranking Soviet Advisers to the various organs of the Hungarian Government, and for visiting Communist dignitaries; they are also used during official holidays and at other large celebrations or parades where large crowds gather9for surveillance and the maintenance of order. The uniformed guards of Division X stand guard over the official MDP and 50X1-HUM Division III. 0 He was transferred to Division X when the Division was 50X1-H U M established_ elieved to have hi9 offices at the Party Center on the corner of Akade~mia ut and l~rp:'~d ut. , Budapest V, where Division X ~is also located. 3, Nothing is known about the internal organization of.Di~rision X. It probably has a military type of T/O. Although it is not known, it :~.s doubtful that a Soviet Advisor is assigned to Division X since it is felt that; Division Xfs mission does not seem logically to warrant an Adviser. Its Party organization is probably modelled on the military system of Political Officers for political indoctrination and education of the troops. SECRET/CONTROL - II. S.
