III. General Statistics on the Yugoslav Armed Forces
1. Total personnel - 610,000

2. Ang... The combat composition of the Yugoslav Army is as follows:
a. Seven army corps (4th, 9th, 11th, 13th, 19th, 21st and 23rd).
b. Thrity-six (sic) infantry divisions, of which 22 are (ordinary)
infantry divisions and 11 are mountain infantry divisions.
c? Three tank divisions (17th, 1st, and 26th).
d. Separate mountain infantry brigades - 6.
e. Sixty-two (sic) separate regiments, of which 20 are artillery,
10 aircraft, 2 are cavalry, et cetera.
3. Air Force. The composition of the Yugoslav Air Force is as follows:
a? One air corps.
b. Eight (sic) air divisions, of which one is a bomber division;
one is an assault division; two are fighter divisions; two are
mixed; and one is an aviation technical division.
0. There are 23 separate aviation regiments.
d. The Yugoslav Air Force has 900 airplanes, of which 150 are
bombers, 150 are assault planes, 260 are fighters, 30 are
reconnaissance planes, 30 are transport planes, and 280 are
trainers and the like.

4. Navy. The composition of the Yugoslav Navy is as follows:
a. The total complement is 33,000 men, of which 10,000 are
seagoing. Of the remainder, 10,000 are marines and
13,000 serve in ground installations and coastal forti-
fications.
b. The Yugoslav Navy has 137 vessels of all types.
1) In the category of combat vessels are:

2) In addition to these, the ports of Pula, Rijeka, Zadar,
Dubrovnik, Trogir, Kardelevo (Pioche), Peljesic (sic) Peninsula,
and Island of Korcula are used as bases.
3) Headquarters for the coastal defense is at Sibenik.
4) Territorial coastal defenses are divided into three districts:
a) Northern Adriatic with Headquarters at Pula.
b) Central Adriatic with Headquarters at Sibenik.
c) Southern Adriatic with Headquarters at Kardelevo.

S. The military river fleet of Yugoslavia has 72 vessels and auxiliary
ships. Their bases are at Novi Sads, Mitrovica, and Mabor (sic-
possibly Maribor).
6. The merchant fleet of Yugoslavia consists of 127 ships which can
be used for military purposes.
IV. Organization of a Yugoslav Army Corps
1. The peacetime organization of a Yugoslav Army Corps has the
following components:
a. Corps Headquarters
b. Two infantry divisions
c. One - two mountain infantry divisions
d. Three artillery regiments consisting of:
1) Field artillery
2) Anti-aircraft artillery
3) Anti-tank artillery
e. Six battalions:
1) Reconnaissance
2) Tank
3) Engineer

f. Two companies:
1) Guard company

2. An army Corps Headquarters consists of:

V. Organization of a Yugoslav Army Tank Division
1. Basic T/O and T/E of the Division:
a. Personnel: 9,590
b. Total tanks: 140
c. The division is composed of four brigades, of which two are
tank brigades; one a motor brigade; and one an artillery
brigade.
d. The division has four artillery battalions:
1) One self-propelled artillery battalion with three
batteries, each with four self-propelled weapons.
2) One anti-tank battalion with three batteries, each
with four 76 mm. guns.
3) One anti-aircraft battalion with three batteries, each
with four 37 mmo AA machine guns.
4) One mortar battalion with two batteries, each with
four 120 mm. mortars.
e. The following additional battalions are subordinate to the
division:
1) Reconnaissance battalion
2) Signal battalion
3) Engineer battalion
4) Medical battalion
5) Transport battalion
2. Basic T/O and T/E of a tank brigade of a tank division:
a. Personnel: 1,814
b. Total tanks: 54
c* The brigade is composed of four battalions; three tank
battalions and one motorized battalion.
d. A tank battalion has 18 tanks and is composed of two
companies, each consisting of three platoons with three
tanks per platoon.

e. A motorized (sic) battalion has three companies of sub-
machine gunners. The mortar company has two platoons, each
with three sections; each section having one 82 mm. mortar.
The anti-tank company has two platoons each with two
sections, each of which has one 45 mm. (type weapon not
specified).
f. There are three batteries subordinate to the brigade
artillery commander:
1) One field artillery battery with two sections, each
with one 76 mm. weapon. Total: 4 weapons (sic).
2) One anti-tank battery with two sections, each with
three weapons (unidentified caliber).
3) One anti-aircraft battery with two sections, each of
which has two 37 mm. machine guns.
g. There are five companies directly subordinate to the
brigade:
1) Headquarters company
