Training/31st Rifle Division SUPPLEMENT TO REPORT # 25X1 25X1 THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION [This report is the result of a joint collection effort by the Air Force, 25X1 Navy, the Army and CIA and is disseminated in accordance with the nrovisions of NSCID 7J ARMY review completed. Release as 1. The signal component in an artillery regiment is composed of nine signal officers; about 110 signalmen (NCO's and EM); 15 8410 and 15 R!,120 radios; II. K-10 telephone switchboards; 40 to 50 ton of field telephone wire; 20 TTK field telephone sets, and 4 trucks. [See organizational chart, deseri'-ed at end of report, for more details 2. The artillery regiment at Petofi Kaserne in Zalaegerszep, had an artillery training center where signal communications were taught. See "On File" notice at end of report for layout of the kaserneThere was a radio operators' class with 15 students and a switchboard operators' class with 32 students. The radio class taught Morse code, sending and receivirg, as well as basic radio r,aintenance. Classes were held three Ears a day, six days a week. In addition, studerts had to attend classes in man reading, chemical warfare, firing techniques, physical training, reconnaissance, etc. 3. The switchboard class mainly used the K 10 and K-20 switchboards. Three NCO'e instructed this class. Radio and telephone switchboard courses lasted 10 months. It.. Headouarters of the 31st Rifle Division (PF5L71) is located in Szabadsag Kaserne near Keszthely. This division has four rifle regimerts located in the following places: Zalaegerszeg, Peto-'i Kaserne, PF 415 L7; Lenti, PF 145883; Polgardi and Marcali..
