Deliveries were made by truck. A double track railroad line runs to the north of the subject area which is located in a well wooded section of land. An airport for sport aircraft is located anrproxalzl4tt'ay 1.5 '- to the north of the storage area. there is an artillery ammunition storage area o e northeast of my sector of guard. 2. The exact nature of items stored in the area is as follows: a. Small arms including submachine guns Soviet 7.62 mm M1941 or Hungarian copies of same; b. Rifles 7.62tmm Mossin Nagant 141391/30; c. Small arms aimmo for these 7.62mm weapons; d. Anti personnel mines, model unknown, flee Attachment l4]. For sketch of area plan see Attachment ##2] 3? Pistols were issued to officers only. the pistol as being very similar to the Soviet 7.62mn v ? The Hungarian pistol differs as to the insignia on the pistol grip. The rifles which were issued to non officer guards are .nt 141891/30. Grenades issued e guam unit are o the offensive type. They are sheet metal cylindrical casings threaded at both ends. One end is threaded to receive the wooden handle which contains the firing mechanism. Pot was the home station f 90 guards and seven 25X1 officers. This group was further divide sections of 30 men. The three section leaders were 2nd lieutenants; the two assistant officers were 1st lieutenants; and the group leader held the rank of Captain. Supreme headquarters for the guard is located at Kerepesi ut 17 Budapest. Other substations were located at Miskole f{5006IITI 20?'v(' 9 10 ' ? ' ' and at Veszprem f+ 5 05 N, 1( i, . ]. 5. The guard training ~s(? choo is 25X located at Szeged Lc6l5' , , , on u pes Ut, about t.:ree kilometers west of Station Szegedin-Rokusch. The staff is comprised ?i' 60-70 officers, members of the AVH. One class of approximately two thousand men was trained per year jas of 1956 over a two and a --cL!f 'aonth period. The remainder of the year was spent in educating students at the high school level. Director of the school was Imre Szabo, who in early 1955 left for USSR as a 1st lieutenant and returned about a year later as a captain. The faculty lived away from the school site. The typical day's schedule is as follows: 0800-1000 - Social, economic, and political studies 1000-1400 - Weapons training 1400-1500 - Lunch 1500-1530 - Weapons cleanin 1530-1800 - Free time 1800-1900 - Scheduled recreation 1900-2000 - Supper 2000-2030 - Area policing 2030 Roll can and inspection.
