/The Office of Naval Intelligence furnished the following information to
CIA for USZB dissemination 25X1
2. Along the wharfs and piers, L=many cranes ith ch were of 25X1
Soviet design. The workers on the piers worked day and night.

5. Although the laborers had to Work day and night, they appeared to be
laughing all the time, the Chinese laborers bad nothing
to do with sailors and remained a distance from them. The
city itself was in not too bad shape; bnt the houses, which did not
appear too old, were deteriorating. Window and doors on the houses
were broken. There was a poor Seeman'a Club in the port Which was
dirty and only carried a 81 selection of souvenirs.
