1? Moscow streetcar line No, 6 runs along Jolok.olamsk.oye shosse, turns north
just after passing under the Moskva Canal, and ends at Tushino Airport; the last
stop on this line is known as Tushiro Airport stop, (See sketch), In
spring 19579 a new single-tracked railroad spur was 'being constructed
between the Skhodnya Canal and the road which borders the south side of
Tushino Airport; this spur appeared to begin at, Tushir..:o Airport streetcar
stop. The rails apparently had. fas'en(,-,d to the new, wooden ties, but
they were not yet :f:p.x3 in place a, the ted. About a mile west of
.t.he streetcar stop the ral.2xoad spur appeared to turn toward the northwest;
it was interrupted by Fabrichnaya ulitsa at the point where it turned.
The Skhodnya Canal ended approximately 10D yards west; of Fabrichnaya ulitsa,
At the end of the canal was a stone building w.N;.ch appeared to be about
two stories high, This building had two very large windows which began
almost at the bottom of the building. Running out; of the two corners at
the end of the canal were two pipes which were about six feet in diameter.
These pipes ran down, a sharp incline into a building at the bottom of a
hill. This building was about two stories high and had three or four very
high windows across its front. Near the end of the canal was a sign
prohibiting swimming in, that part of the canal. There was a metal struct-
ure across the canal which appeared to have the purpose of preventing large
objects from going into the pipes, A path ran along the side of the canal
on a dirt levee. The sides of the canal were made of concrete near the
end of the canal.
3,. South of the open square at the er_ . of the
path which ran along the canal,
there was a group of four masts ab t 22

A .wire fence surrounded the area in which the masts were
located, and a guard with a submachine gun was patroling along the inside
of the fence, Near the factor areas close to the Skhodnya Canal bridge,
were a number of transformers, uncertain concerning the
side of the road on which the transformers were located.

4. A bus ran south along Fabrichnaya ulitsa. On both sides of the street,
near the Skhodnya Canal bridge, were factory buildings surrounded by
wooden fences. The gates to the two areas were vis- ,-vis, and workers
were occasionally observed to leave one factory area and walk across the
street to the other, using the same pass to leave the one and enter the
other. Guards stood at the gates. A technical school was located just
south of the factory area on the western side of Fabrichnaya ulitsat. On the
other side of the street, opposite the school, was a hospital.
the name of the street was
pose only south of the factory areas. New apartment buildings were
located throughout the area, particularly south of the Skhodnya Canal
and west of Tushino Airport.
