Military Personnel
1. On 6 November 1962 between the hours of 1400 and 1800 About 15
to 20 soldiers from various branches of the Soviet Army entered and left
the train station at Dzhulfa. One was a major from the armored troops,
two were Air Force officers, four were Infantry enlisted men and one was
an Artillery enlisted man. Four other soldiers had insignia strongly
resembling that of the Signal Troops. This insignia from a distance
looked like a bronze star shaped object divided by a verticle bar or
rod. Two soldiers wearing red Arm bands were patrolling the station.
The Artillery soldier was wearing an olive drab field uniform with a hat
with a stiff broad brim and a round crown. All of the other military
men were dressed in service uniforms and none had visible fire arms.

Reactivated Military Garrison
2. Since late September 1962 an abandoned military garrison about
350 meters north of the Dzhulfa train station has been reactivated. This
garrison consists of five one-story barracks-type buildings separated from
the rail yards by a 2-1/2 to 3 meter high brick wall. This wall and the
buildings recently had been painted, there were lights shining from the
windows of all the buildings and smoke coming from the chimney of One
of the buildings. In addition there were men in military dress walking
around between the buildings. Near the southwest corner of the compound
the barrels of two artillery pieces were pointing to the southwest over
the wall. These barrels had bores of about 20 to 25 centimeters. Attached
is a sketch of the location of the garrison.

route from Moscow to Dzhulfa at about 1140 hours Moscow time and while
near the Turkish borderthere was a Soviet Border Guard installation consisting
of One barraCkS type building on the-right-Of the tracks about 70 to
80 meters away from the rail line and about 200 to 250 meters away from
the border fence between kpn 2748 and 2749. About 10 to 12 meters to the
right (on the Leninaken side) of this barracks there was a low, narrow
grass covered or bunkered structure about 10 to 12 meters long by 1/2
meter high by 1-1/2 to 2 meters wide pardllel to the railroad. One
end of this structure was curved to face the railroad and was squared
off with a wooden door facing the railroad. Along the dome of the long
part of the mound or bunker there were four pipes about 15 cms in diameter
protruding up 25 to 30 ems.
2. There was one Soldier in the uniform of a Border Guard standing
between the barracks-type building and the bunker.
3. Attached is a sketch of this installation.

SUBJECT: Possible Fuel Depot
50X1 -HUM
1. At 1634 hours Moscow time on 7 November between kpn 2713 and 2714
between Leninakan and Spitak while en route from Dzhulfa to Moscow there
was a restricted area resembling a "fuel depoton the left of the tracks
about 30to 35 meter's- away. The reatiicted are-I-Was?a rectangle-about
250 to 300 meteis long by.60'to 65 meterdwide And 'had'l-l/2 meter high
barbed *lie fence-with five-oi...six hbrizOntal strands of barbed 'Wire on
all sides. Within this compound were lbw locations containing a row
of eight partially buried tanks about 6 to 6-1/2 meters long and about
1-1/2 to 2 meters in diameter. On top of each battery of tanks there were
pipes running from one end of the row to the other. The tanks in three
of the batteries were black and in the other red. Also at one end of the
compound there were five or six tanks scattered at random on top of the
ground. From the two batteries in the middle there were an undetermined
number of 10 cm diameter fiber hoses converging and going into the ground
near the fence closest to the railroad. Flush with this fence there was
a tan colored brick building about 12 meters long by 4 meters wide by 3
meters high. This building had a door opening to the outside of the
compound on the railroad side. There were about six soldiers walking around
this building. The soldiers were wearing dark olive drab uniforms.- There
was another soldier standing near a gate at the left end of the compound.
. _ _
2:- Exdept for the-above mentioned fence and soldiers there were no -
secukity forces or measures in sight nor were there any vehicles or military
equipment paliced in or around the area.
3. The ground in this compound showed sighs of having been recently
cleared. Also the tanks and fencing and building all appeared to be new.
4. Attached is a sketch of this installation.

On 18 November 1962, between KPN 1521 and 1522, on the left side of the
rail line, just before arriving in Tikhoretsk from Moscow, an airfield
was observed with about 100 single-engine jet aircraft. Aircraft had
swept-back diogping wings spanning about 13 meters. Fuselages were
about 14 meters long. Aircraft parked in two groups, each group of two
lines with aircraft facing each other.
