The State Security and Militia organizations are in the same building in Sliven. This building is in the north part of Sliven and is shown on the attached sketch as No. 58. The length of the building is about 20 meters, and its width is about 1525X1 meters. It is of brick construction and is painted yellow on the outside. The Building of the "City" People's Council 2. The building of the "City" People's Council in Sliven is located in the center of the city at Red Square; the building is shown as No. 70 on the attached sketch. It is about 40 meters long and is in the shape of the letter "T". The center part of the building has three stories and the right and left sections have two stories.25X1 It is of brick construction and is painted yellow on the outside. Opposite this building, on the other side of the square, there is another office building (No, 35 on sketch) that is 25X1 occupied by the "City" People's Council. A clock tower rises from the center part of the building shown as No. 70. 25X1 Post Office Building The Post 0 'fice building is located in the center of Sliven and is shown as No. 25X1 51 on the attached sketch. This building is 25 meters long and 15 meters wide; it has two stories, is of brick construction and is 1painted ellow. The entire building is occupied b the Post Office City Hall . Near the building is the Okoliya People's Court 4. The Okoliya People's Court is located on the main road in Sliven, near the Red Square, and is shown as No. 74 on the attached sketch. The building is about 25 meters long, has two stories, is made of brick, and is -painted yellow. Industrial Installations in Sliven 5. The "Georgi Dimitrov" textile factory (No. 1 on attached sketch) employs about 300 laborers. 6. The "Vasil Kolarov" glass factory employs about 400 laborers. (No. 6 on Sketch). About 400 workers are employed at the "Elprom" electric bulb factory (No. 15, on Sketch). There are about 150 workers at the "Osmi Mart" hosiery factory (No. 7 on Sketch). 9. There are about 150 employees at the "Vinprom" wine and spirits factory (No. 8 on Sketch). 10. The Blacksmiths' Cooperative called "Kovach" has more that 500 workers (No. 27 on Sketch). 11. The factory group (zavot) called "Pobeda" manufactures machines and spare parts used by blacksmiths, and also manufactures stoves, bedsprings, etc. About 200 workers are employed at "Pobeda". (No. 20 on Sketch). Oil Wells near Sliver 12. Oil tells dug in 1954 are located about three kilometers west of Sliven, behind the hill called "Hamam Bayir", about one kilometer north of the Sliven-Sofia highway. At this site, there is an area about 150 x 200 meters which is surrounded by a wire fence and is guarded by the Militia'and_the_Army. This area is-shown as No. 18 on attached sketch. A branch line of the Sliven-Sofia railroad goes into the area. The only installations that can be seen in the area are two or three buildings, with two stories each, and two "metal depots" (sic- possibly oil drills) Gas Depot in Sliven 25X1 There is a gas depot located south of the Sliven-Sofia highway and the hill called "Haman 13ayir". At this site there is an area of about 30 meters long 25X1 and 15 meters wide that is surrounded by a wire fence and guarded by two Milit- iamen. Transportation units belonging to the UAT (Upravlenie Avtomobilen Trans- port; Automobile Transportation Management) organization and other State insti- tutions obtain gas from this depot. There are one or two small buildings inside the fenced area, and 30 or 40 barrels can be seen out in the open. The personnel working at the depot are civilians. The gas depot is shown as No. 13 on the attach- ed sketch. Military Units in Sliven 25X1 14. Located in Sliven are one tank unit, one infantry unit, and one motorized unit. The barracks of these units are located on the eastern side of Sliven and are shown as No. 83 on the attached sketch. Antiaircraft Battery in Sliven 15.
