The plant was located on the south side of Walbrzych. Dir- ector of the plant was Josef ERZEPEK, a civilian. The entire plant worked on three shifts per day, employing about 1200 people including administration persongel. The plant covered an area of about 23,000 square meters. (5) Railroad Car Weighing Station. (6) Railroad Car Weighing Station. (7) Water Distillery Building - a concrete construction measuring 30X2OXl8 meters. (8) Unloading Ramp a brick and steel construction mexsur ing 40x5X6 meters. It served for unloading raw materi- als. (9) Tar Pumping Station.- a one-story, brick construction measuring 20x6X5 meters, connected with point 8 . (10) Railroad Car Elevator - a steel structure with storage space on the top floor. The elevator delivered rail- road cars with raw materials to the street level where the material was unloaded manually and distributed to various sections of the plant. (11) Building - a two-story, brick and reinforced-steel con- struction measuring 25X10X10 meters. It was planned to convert this building into a tar boiler plant; however, the plan was not carried out. (12) Storage building - a brick and reinforced-concrete con- struction consisting of only four protective walls measuring 30X15 meters. It contained four steel stor- age tanks for tar with a capacity of 500 tons each. (13) Storage Building - same as Point (12) above. It had three storagetanks with a capacity of 1000 tons each. (14) Compressor and Pumping Section - a single-story, brick construction,imeasuring 20X15X6 meters. (15) Storage Building - a one-story , brick and reinforced- steel construction, measuring 30X15X8 meters. Raw materials and some finished products were stored there. (16) Electric Shops and Apprentice School - a one-story, L-shaped building of brick construction measuring 30X2018X8 meters. The northern wing housed a plant abhool for apprentice electricians. (17) Water Cooling Tower - a wooden structure 35 meters high. (18) Building - a two-story, brick construction measuring 35X15X12 meters. It housed water pumping equipment and workshops. It housed some offices, and protective clothing was stored there. (20) Electric Power Sub-Station - it housed transformers which distributed power to the tar production section. (21) Tar Distillery Hall - a brick and reinforced steel con- struction measuring 50127X25 meters. (22) Tar Storage Area - fenced in by brick walls, measured 22X14 meters, and housed four containers for the residue, of tar processed at Point (21) above. (23) Tar Processing Building - housed one large container heated with gas where water was extracted from tar dur- ing processing. (24) Barracks - a one-story, wooden construction measuring 614x4 meters, where equipment for the fire station, Point (45), was stored. (25) Garage - a one-story, brick structure measuring 2515X5 meters, where five to six plant vehicles were parked. (26) Laboratory a one-story, brick construction measuring 2515X5 meters with a basement. This laboratory was utilized by the entire plant. (27) Storage Area - fenced in by brick walls, it housed four 1N-ton, two 1000-ton and eight 500-ton containers for finished products. (28) Administration Building - a three-story, brick construc- tion, stucco finished, measuring 18112X15 meters. It housed administration offices of the plant. (29) Administration Building - a three-story, stone construc- tion with a tile roof, measuring 18X22116 meters with a basement. It housed a canteen for the plant personnel and administration offices. (30) Administration Building - a two-story, brick construc- tion with a tile roof, measuring 1510 meters. It housed administration offices of the tar production sec- tion. (31) Barracks - a one-story, woode* structure with a tarpaper roof, measuring 20X5X5 meters. It housed a shoeshop, paint shop, and a small canteen. (32) Barracks a one-story, L-shaped brick construction with a tarpaper roof, measuring 12110X815 meters. It housed an apprentice shop. An anthracene was stored in one part of the building; the rest was not utilized. (34) Building - a brick construction with a tarpaper roof. It housed various transformers. Machine Shop - a one-story, brick structure measuring (41) Quarters - a two-story, brick structure with a tarpaper root measuring 21X10110 meters. It housed a,library, reading rooms, first aid station and a meeting hall. (45) Fire Station - a one-story, brisk structure with a tar- paper root, measuring 30110X5 meters. In addition to tire fighting equipment, it also housed some offices. (46) Supply - a one-story, concrete structure' with a tarpaper roof, measuring 40X615 meters.' It housed various tech- nical parts and tools for the sulphuric acid plant. (47) Gas Tank a steel construction with a 5000-cubic-meter capacity.
