three reports on the 10th Volary Border
Guard (PS) Brigade. Attachment A concerns the organization of the brigade
following a reorganization in September 1956. A sketch shows the location
of the headquarters installations. Attachment B concerns the 7th PS
Company of the 2nd PS Battalion, 10th PS Brigade. This company is located
in Horni Silnice. A sketch shows the location of installations. Attachment
C concerns the transfer of the 2nd PS Battalion headquarters from Kunzvart to
Noise Hrady and from subordination to the 10th PS Brigade in Volary to the
PS Brigade in Ceske Budejovice.1 This transfer took place in September 1955.
The report lists the officers of the 2nd PS Battalion headquarters.

1. After the reorganization in September 1955, the 10th Border Guar
Brigade consists of 19 PS Companies and three PS battalions 25X1
1st PS Battalion in Kvilda
2nd PS Battalion in Stozec (formerly was in Kunzvart)
3rd PS Battalion in Plana.
2. The brigade headquarters has about 250 enlisted men and consists of
the following units:
Brigade HQ proper
Reserve CompaI
Motor Transport Company
Signal Platoon
Brigade Training Center
NCO School
Headquarters Company.
4. The Brigade Reserve Company has about 100 men and is organized into
ist Infantry Platoon (28 EM, submachine guns 7.62, rifles 7.62 U-52)
2nd infantry Platoon (27 men, same armament as the 1st Co.)
HMG Platoon (20 EM, 4 HMG's Gordunov)
R/L Platoon (20 E.M., 4-6 rocket launchers Tarasnice).
GO is Sr.Lt. Josef Novak, political officer Sr. Lt.'Jiri Kubala, platoon
leader Sr. Lt. Ondrej Galanda, food supply officer Lt. Nemec (fnu).
The Reserve Company is normally assigned to guard duties.
5? The Motor Transport' Company has about 30 enlisted men and the following
vehicles:

Legend for the sketch
(1) Brigade Headquarters; near the RR station, three-storied, L-shaped, older
building, about 60 x 30 meters.
(2) Reserve Company quarters; L-shaped building, one wing is one-storied,
other wing is three-storied; 30 x 15 meters.
(3) Motor Transport Company; newly built barracks on an area of about
159 x 200 meters. There are three masonry buildings each about 100 x 6
meters; two of the buildings are garages, the third one is an auto
workshop. A POL station is also in the courtyard,
(L) Brigade Training Center, built in 1951"and 1952 on an area of about
300 x 200 meters. There are 18 wooden barracks,each about 30 x 10
meters. The NCO School and the Motor Transport company have their
billets in these barracks as well.
(5) Brigade Food Store; two-storied, about 29 x 20 meters.
(6) Brigade Ordnance Store and weapon repair workshop; contains brigade
reserve weapons and ammunition. Two-storied building, about 15 x 15 in.
(7) Brigade Dispensary; three-storied, about 20 x 15 meters.
(8) Brigade Ammunition Store; newly built in 1955, about 8 x 5 meters large.

1. The 7th PS Company in Horni Silnice belonged formerly to the 2nd PS 25X1
Battalion in Kunzvart (it was 8th PS Company then). After the Septem-
ber 1955 reorganization, the 2nd PS Battalion Kunzvart was subordinated
to the Ceske Budejovice PS Brigade and the former 8th PS Company was
subordinated to the newly numbered 2nd PS Battalion (former 3rd PS Bn)
in Stozec and its number was changed to the prevent 7th PS Company.
Internally there were changes in the company.
2. The company strength was two officers, 1 career NCO and 35 enlisted men ?5X1

The deputy CO was Lt. Karel Horuta
3. Company's equipment consisted of the following:
1 HMG Goryunov
3 LMG's 7.62 mm Model 52
25 rifles 7.62 mm Model 52 (old Model 98 N was withdrawn in.0ct.1955)
35 submachine guns 7.62 mm, with wooden stock
2L hand grenades RG 4 in the guard room, more on the stock in the compa-
ny's ammunition store
3 pistols 7.62 mm
20 telephone sets with plug-in cables
2 riding horses
2 draught horses.

(1) Company's quarters; two wooden barracks and one pre fabricated house for
officers. There is also an observation tower and an electric transformer
within the enclosure.
(2) Observation tower, 12 m high, liaison point between the 6th and 7th PS
companies. Occupied day and night by guards.

(11) The area of thin wires stretched low above the ground and attached
to illuminating rockets.

1. After the withdrawal of the Soviet troops from
territory, a reorganization took place in the Czechoslovak Border 25X1
Guard disposition. Within this reorganization the 10th PS Brigade
in Volary lost in September 1955 its former 2nd PS Battalion located
in Kunzvart. The 2nd Battalion HQ, including all its officers, was
transferred to Nove Hrady (about 30 km southeast from Ceske Budejovice)
and subordinated to-the Ceske Budejovice PS Brigade.
2. The following officers belonged to the 2nd PS Battalion HQ and were 25X1
transferred to Nove Hrady:
Capt. Miroslav Baloun, battalion CO.
