The average number of unskilled workers employed was 700, of whom 70 percent were women. Besides these there were 130 skilled workers and 110 administra- tive employees. 3. Direct Soviet control over the factory was exercised by a Russian woman, of Hungarian origin, Dr. Andras Havas. She received instructions from the Soviet. advisers of the industrial directorate of KGM/B II. 25X1 4. There were always a great many explosives stored at tory, both primary and secondary. About a year's requirements of ese materials were placed in storage at the beginning of each year (between 10 and 15 tons). This stock was replenished toward the end of the year. -]and explosive mercury (primers) were 25X1 also kept in store (between 200 and 300 kilograms). 5. It was calculated, in view of the storage of the above explosives, that the danger area in case of an explosion was a radius of about three kilometers from the factory. No houses were situated in this area. In the event of a chain reaction explosion, it was considered that both Nagyt4teny and Erdliget were in danger. 6. There were four air-raid shelters.at the factory which were built during World War II. They were badly placed since they were too near the explosives depot.
