Description: The distance was so great that no details could be noted of the cruiser which was .r. In contrast to the other vas eis that we baerved, the color of it was very dark tray. No ordnance. The conning-tower was low and placed slightl r abaft the middle of the ship. The screen is an ordinary girder screen of the type : iat 13 Used in nserchant ships. There were quite a few houses in the vicinity of it. 2) About 300 meters south of the radar there is a girder mast, height 12-l meters. There is a square object on top of it. The mast is painted white on the side facing east. 3. 1) in Murmansk itself vaere 13 a spouT, or a n n apatite. CON ENT3 The cruisers are all of the Swerdl v-class and have all been observed previously. Destroyer has previously been reported as Sko -class t ere Is a pa err-c ass cru ser Were are not able to comment on the submarine observation. It is likely that the two rusty submarines have been on a long cruise* observed before. Unfortunately the description of the upright object on the submarine by the Bolshoi island in too deficient for evalua- tion. It is possible that this is a SONAR installation which has been observed previously. Compared to the surrounding landscape, they were very obvious and looked as if they were ceiling domes over underground con- tainers. Quite a few green oil barrels were seen in the same area ashore. Control 2) The control in Murmansk itself was quite thorough this time. The search of cabins and rooms took about 1 1/2 hour - both on arrival and departure.
