Introduction '
This report gives the information ~on the organization and
functions of the Office of the Chief o ear erv ces of the Ministry of~N~
Defense,flater redesignated the Office of the Chief Quartermaster of MON)I ~

ao Reorganization and Redesignation
Late in 1952, the office of the Chief of Rear Services of the
Ministry of National Defense underwent a mayor reorganization, in which the
Finance Department and the Transportation Department were transferred to the
direct control of the Ministry of National .Defense, and the name of the Office
of the Chief ;of Rear Services was changed to the Office of the Chief:'Quarter-
master (Glowne Kwatermistrzowstwo)o2

mission~of this section was to coordinate the capacity and utilization of 'storage

of this section was to insure current deliveries to storage depots and angp units,
and to purchase containers and provide transportation facilities. for the armed
services,

of this section was to plan and disburse financial requirements for ,all sections
of the POL Department, .
e, Quartering Department
This department was responsible for quartering all the.,Pohish
Armed Forces (,lessSecurity Forces) and their dependents of career personnel,.
the care and maintenance of such properties, the periodical inspections of`such
buildings and grounds fog proper maintenance and care by occupants, and the pro-
curement, of training areas for the Armed Forces, In addition it,was,in;charge of
the procurement of garrison and household furnishings and equipment and, the heating
and lighting ,of all preaniises under its control,
The specific training of permanent cadre officers, EM, ,and civilian
personnel for assignment in the Quartering Department end the supervision of such
training at the Central ,Quartermaster School in POZNAN eras also a responsibility
of this departriient In~addition9 the department established rules and regulations

This department aided all the other departments of the Chief ?
Quartermaster in planning for material supplies which would be required in the
