1. AN part of the Hungarian Air Defense ; Syat.em those sectors of the
country deemed vital to any war effort were assigned. to fighter
elements of the Hungarian Air'Force for air patrolling. Triong
?lar-shaped areas, their air security was primarily the res nsi
bility- of the following three" fighter divisionst the Papa N 41:
2220p B 1-$8 Special Fighter Division (Soviet), the Taszar N 4, H l T. 4I 91st Fighter Divisiol, and the Keeskemet (N 46-54,
H 19 .41) 66th Fighter Division. 10 case of war, Kunmadaras Air-
field (A 47-45, 8 20>47) was to provide tighter, assistance to .the . 25X1
Zeeskemet Division for patrol duties'. The air patrols consisted
of one or ' two MXG-15s or MIG-17
areas we reaularly nAtralled.
Aei,_ner' and Bombing Plana
gunnery ranges in Hungary were used by the Hungarian Air Force
for both air-to-air and air-to-ground firing practice. The
aerial gunnery ranges were rectangularly shaped, about 15 kilo-
meters long and. five kilometers Wide. The targets were painted
silhouettes of aircraft and take, Hungary's single bomb range
at Nagyivany (N 47-29,. B 20-56) was i also a gunnery range. The
bomb target was a lime-painted ring 30 meters in diameter with
inner circles..
