Because of the distance and prevailing fog, these ships could not
be identified; most probably there were motor torpedo boats with
trellis mast, one smoke stack, and square stern.
The craft returned to the port during the night.
4. - At the same time, three warships were sighted in the port; two of
them had no smoke stacks and were of small tonnage, perhaps

Also were noticed two floating docks with two approximately

In the stretch between Cape Kherson and the Bay of Balaklava,,the
movements of the following Soviet naval vessels carrying out ma-
neuvers at about 3-4 miles from the coast were observed:
One cruiser (or battleship, believed by some members of the
crew to be the ex-CESA{E).
One cruiser - believed to belong to the KIROV class
Five or six destroyers
Your or five corvettes (escort vessels)
One submarine, believed to have a 1000 ton displacemen very
dark hull, seemingly with no guns on deck, proceeding in the
south-easterly direction in the vicinity of the coast. Speed
maintained.
At the same time, a large tug towing a barge equipped with large
cranes doubled the Cape Kherson and headed south-east. Almost
simultaneously, another tug also with floating cranes in tow,
was doubling Cape Aitodor heading toward the area of the ship
