There was a hospital with 200/250 beds and one operating theatre. At the end of 1954 the head of this hospital was ~r OBERC who died in 1955.. The name of his successor is not known, 3. KO: (a) The hospital in KOLBUOZO1 (for location and lay-out see Sketche0?ttached) was a one storoy brick building equipped almost entirely from UNRRA supplies. This included instrtmients, bedding and linen, Director of the hospital - Dr KRZALEWSKI stanislaw Other doctors w. king at the hospital - Dr ADAMUS - Dr ZIOLO (b) The hospital relived all supplies of medicine from RZESZ(7 , to which centre it was subordinate. There was no good donors' bank at the hospital, and blood was also received from RZESZ00, in fluid form. (a) The penicillin used at the hospital was mainly of Polish manufacture, delivered in units of 300,000 and 600,000. Very little use was made of penicillin in form of 'pills or lozenges as both doctors and patients were sceptical about its effectiveness. Polish streptogyoin produced laboratory quan . (d) In spite of press reports, there was no shortage of medical supplies in Poland. There was, however, a great shortage of medical equipment. (e) Isotopes are not used at all in provincial hospitals, nor have any instructions been received on how to use theca.
