A second sketch, which is also included, shows the location and layout of an AA position at Saalow. No 10: house 16 x 12 m, used as private accommodation by 50X1-HUM the Unit Commander. No 11: Barrack block 25 x 12 m, used as hospital. 50X1-HUM No 12: Barrack block, 40 x 12 m used as kitchen and dining halls. Nos 13, 14 & 16: Barrack blocks, 75 x 15 m, , occupied by guard personnel. No 15: Barrack block 75 x 15 m, occupied by W/T personnel. 50X1-HUM No 17: Wooden barrack hut 25 x 0 in, occupied by the guard and other personnel from the ammunition bunker. Nos lu-20 (incl): Garages 50 x 15 in, housing W/T trucks, predictors, power units and mobile radar. Nos 21-23 (incl): Garages 100 x 12 m, housing 0 prime movers, _uns. 50X1-HUM Guns seen were 05 mm AA,100 mm AA and ZPU No 24: Wooden shed, 10 x 10 m. Contents not known. 50X1-HUM No 25: Wooden F shed, 25 x 10 m. Contents not known. Nos 26-31 (incl): Wooden garages 40 x 15 in, Nos 32 & 33: Stores shed, 15 x 0 in. Contents not known. No 34: Wooden barrack hut 25 x 0 m. t'sed by ~,-uard personnel and as stores for targets from the range. Nos 35, 36 & 37: Barrack block 25 x 0 in, occupied by Engineer officers. No 30: Barrack block 30 x 12 in, occupied by Engineer troops. No 39: Barrack block 30 x 12 in, used as duty rooms by the HQ AA. Nos 40 & 41: Houses, occupied by AA officers and fa-nilies. No 42: Barrack block 25 x 20 in, used as offices. No 43: School building 20 x 15 in, No 44: Wooden shed 20 x 0 m. 1 ed as recreation room by personnel from the store. R = Newly-built loading ramp on the siding from REHAGEN, approx 0x10m. B1 & B2: Concrete bunkers 30 x 40 m, built below -round level. The tops of the bunkers are approx 1 m above the ground and are covered by light wooden roofs. 0 storage tanks are installed in 50X1-HUM tho bunkers. Tanks installed measure 4-5 m in length with a diameter of 3 in. Number installed is not known. When instal- lation was in progress at least 6 such tanks were observed. On the site there are 3 storage tanks each 3 m long and 2.5 m in diameter. B4 = Underground Ostorage tanks formerly used by the German Army. Details of numbers and capacity unknown. Ml - M4 (incl): Underground ammunition store 50 x 10 m, with light wooden roofs approx 1 m above ground level. Type of ammunition stored is not known. F = Area used for driving practice inl (prime movers. SP = Sports ground. Also used as training area for W/T personnel. SCH = Rifle range used by units in REHAGEN and SCHUMKELAGER. W = Guard rooms. WT = Watch towers. STR = Former railway connection between REHAGEN railway station and the SCHUMKELAGER. The railway lines have been removo and the stretch now serves as a barrack path. 3. (a) Attached at Appendix "B" is a sketch sheaving the location and layout of the AA position at SAALOW. This is locatel approx 5 km NORTH of REHAGEN. Trcops and equipment belong to the unit in the REHAGEN Barracks. (b) Equipment at the SAALOW position on 31 Jan 50 was as follows: 6 AA guns 100 mm in emplacements. 6 AA guns in garages or gun sheds. 6 AA guns 05 mm in garages or gun sheds. 4 AA guns, calibre estimated as 120 - 150 mm. 12 prime move 1 basket-shaped array mounted on the roof. (c) 3-etails of buildings shewn on the sketch are as follows: Nos 1 & 2: Barrack block, 75 x 15 m, 2-storeyed. Nos 3, 4 & 5: Garages and gun sheds made of wood, 30 x 12 m. R = Location of with basket-shaped array on roof. FL = Gun positions, each constructed to house 6 guns. On 31 Jan 5(':', only the position marked FLx had guns. EB = Wartime earth bunkers with wooden roofs. The bunkers are furnished as emergency accommodation for AA personnel.
