Supplementary data
d. August 1957 with relative drawing.
The stripes on the sleeves of officers' g^eat coats indicate length of
service and are not indicative of rank.
The epaulets chow the rank.
The stripes do not encircle completely the sleeve but reach a s far
as the seam (at the back of the sleeve).
The collar on the outside is blue and is lined with a niece of white
fabric or nylon that protrudes a bit. This is mostly to urotect the neck
from rubbing against the unif orm.
As to the three at the shoulder
they indicate the sailors' rank, while the horizontal center s r pes
in icate the ability and efficiency of the sailor.
Owing to seniority restriction, similar stripes are rarely awarded.
Consequently, it could be that sailors are discharged before they ever
get them.
The following epaulets are warn by petty officers.
