1. In December: 1956, at the Planning Bureau of Labor Cooperatives,
Krakow, blueprints for an air raid shelter to be
constructed somewhere in Krakow to shelter members of the Krakow
Cooperative for the Blind (Krakowska Spoldsielnia Niewidomyoh),
a four-buildint installation then under construction.

2. Figure 1 on pale 4 is the top view plan of the projected air
raid shelter. The measurements presented,on the d agram are in
centimeters. Numbers in parentheses below refer to correspond-
ing numbers on the sketch.
(1) Poured concrete Support - measuring 14 x 14 centimeter j

(5) Two Pairs of Steel Doors - that closed off a small section
of the shelter. This was the only entrance to the sheltorj
it opened from the outside. There was no possibility of
entering the shelter from the building proper.

raid shelter. The measurements presented on the diagram are in
centimeters. Numbers in parentheses below refer to the oorres-
ponding numbers on the sketch.

(1) Concrete Layer - 5-6 centimeters thick.* This was to be 25X1
covered by a wooden floor to form the first story of the
building.
(2) Sand Layer - 15 centimeters thick.* A coarse grain of sand
was prescribed.
(3) Reinforced Concrete Layer - 25 centimeters thick. This was
reinforced with steel rods having a diameter of 12 centi-
meters and stressed to support a load average of 3500 XG/m2.
(4) Concrete Floor - 15 centimeters thick.
(5) Concrete Wall Base - measuring 30 x 80 centimeters.
(6) Ground Level.
* This indicates those measurements known to comply with
TOPL regulations.
