The latter, had no numerical designation. perimeter of the mil ]l I was surrounded on three sides by a fence some three to four meters high. The plant buildirp;a consisted of one lar e, probably fireproof, four-story, red brick bia.iidin, divided into three sections (refer to sketch) and a warehouse. From the Shchelkovo railroad station a branch railroad line and a non-surfaced highway led directly to the p lant . Raw materials, such a cot ton, f'eallt, glue, coal and wood, were shipped in by rail and outgoing products were transported. both by rail and truck. 2. The main building had large windows on the side facing the Shchelkovo railroad station; it was divided into three parts or sections deseribe.d.'.as::t'ollows: Section one: this section had ahuBe]ient where waste cotton was col icected and later washed and used. On the first floor, which me', sn--wd about 40 by 80 meters, was located the laundry where the raw cotton waa. washed in drums one mater in diameter before being trans- ferred to the second floor for c irdi . Included among the employees on the first floor were Stakhanovi,tes whose sole job was to speed up the washing process so that other shops in the plant would not lack work. The second floor contained cardng end ironing machines; the latter smoothed, the cotton fibers into uniform layers preparatory for winding.
