Czecho'glowacka, between Harbor Basin VI and the state owned enterprise PAGED. The shipyard area comprises an area of about 850,000 square meters, of which about 80,000 square meters is under roof. A three meter high inner wall of concrete extends through the yard area, and a fence several kilometers in length separates the residence barracks from the shipyard. There are two entrance gates to the shipyard, under constant guard by personnel from the Industrial Guard. Next to the Gdansk Shipyard (Stocznia Gdanska), this shipyard has the best and most modern equipment among Polish shipyards. It is capable of building several types of vessels, and 'tcarry oiit extensive repairs 25X1 of naval vessels. this shipyard also installed armament in naval vessels, but this work has now been taken over by the shipyard in Oksywie. At the present time, the yard has about 5,000 employees, but this figure is constantly increastr~g along with, the steadily increasing production. The shipyard has the following equipment: One construction way about 90 meters long and 30 meters wide 30 n One floating dock simw& 6,000 tons 3,000 600 25 Two dock pontoons of a total of 1,500 gross register tons. The most important buildings of the shipyard: One large machine shop building One smaller machine shop building, built after the war Two electric power plants, both modernized, one of which supplies power to the whole port area, while the other furnishes power to the shipyard only. Several postwar storehouses and other buildings, in which are located: A hull section shop An assembly shop A mec~anical and electrical workshop The oxygen C elding- section The foundry The locksmith shop The carpenter shop and furniture shop The dock and salvage section The Construction Program Construction of new vessels: a) Cargo ships, most of them motor vessels of less than 1,000 gross register tons. Some of these are being built for export. Smaller naval craft, such as, for example, MTB's, "Speedboats, patrol vessels and mine vessels.
