The depth of entrance channel, which is' particularly important for large tankers, is always kept at 29 feet. Dredging in Wismar Harbor A large bucket dredge is operating in the shipping channel of Wismar The width of the channel varies between 36 and 40 feet and the whole channel will now be widened to 45 meters. As a result, the banks of several islands near the channel will disappear. 2. Icebreaker KRASIN After approximately 5 to 6 years, the icebreaker KRASIN has been delivered, completely remodeled by VEB Mathias-Thesen-Werft. Except for the hall, it has become a completely new ship. The superstructure has also been completely remodeled. The same applies to the engine room, etc. The old nose screw has been removed. The ship now has three screws. The ship is to keep open the East-West passage, together with the new Soviet atomic icebreaker.
