MILITARY BARRACKS AT RAVENSBRUCK. (16 - 17 August 59) Attached at Appendix "A" is a sketch Germany 1 a 25000 maps) showing the position of barracks in the 2. No. 1 on the sketch pinpoints the KASTAVENSEE Kaserne some 200 - 300 m. N -W of the S end of the OBER KASTAVEN SEE and 500 - 600 M. N of the RAVENSBRUCK-LYCHEN road. The length of the barrack area is some 700 - 800 in. 3. Approach roads (Nos. 4 on the sketch) are barred to all civilian traffic by means of stop signs. 4. From the S edge of the OBERKASTAVENSEE 4 x 2-storeyed stone buildings can be seen in the E half of the barracks (No. 2 on the sketch). In the S-W corner of the barracks there are 4 - 5 family-type houses (No. 3 on the ketch). 5. From the S-W corner of the barracks a telephone line (No. 5 on the sketch) runs out in a S direction as far as the road and then runs W alone; the road to RAVENSBRUCK. The line has 16 wires running on 2 cross-traverses. 6. On 16 - 17 August, 1959, no activity was visible in the area of the barracks apart from two trucks of Soviet troops in fatigue clothing. 7. In the triang) made by the RAVENSBRUCK - LYCHEN road and the railway line to TIMTPLIN there is a Soviet-occupied installation measuring some 150 x 150 in. (No. 6 on the sketch). It is surrounded by a high wooden fence and no details of the interior are visible. From the telephone line (No. 5 on the skotch)leading to ~~ two lines branch off and enter installation No. 6. 8. Immediately S of the railway line to TEMPLIN stands a Soviet installation some 500 in. in length (No. 7 on the sketch). It reaches almost as far as the SCHWEDT SEE. S-E of the installation stands RAVENSBRUCK concentration camp memorial (No. 8 on the sketch). 9. At the position marked as No. 9 on the sketch a new memorial is being built. 10. The road from RAVENSBRUCK to HTh LPFORT runs into the barracks. 11. Another Soviet-occupied installation (No. 10 on the sketchy is located in the middle of RAVENSBRUCK, approx. at MR 763 958. 50X1-HUM 50X1-HUM 12. Apart from 3 Soviet bowsers no military vehicles or equipment of any kind was seen in RAVENSBRUCK on 16 - 17 August, 1959. -?
