Radio broadcasting stations in Rumania are located in Bucharest, Cluj, Craiova, Timisoara and Bod (near Orasul Stalin), The Iasi broadcasting Station was to be put into operation in 1959. (No details available on further stations). 6. The section in charge of the Bucharest Radio Station is on the 8th floor of the Broadcasting Directorate building. Entrance to the above mentioned~sbotion is for the section's personnel and persons having special. permits. The section is also in charge of the radio relay station in Tincabesti (on the Bucharest-Ploesti road) and several stations located in the mountains, which serve as relay or emergency stations. The mountain stations are connected with their headquarters in Bucharest by radio only, and workers of the Broadcasting Directorate who wish to talk to those at the mountain stations can via the telephone exchange of the Building, which is connected with the radio network on the 8th floor. Supplies of solid and liquid fuel, clothes and food are carried to the mountain stations twice a year by peasants of the area on their backs, because of the lack of roads 7. Most sections of the department of foreign language broadcasts, are headed by political defectors from Western countries (except for the Russian program section). 8. Until 1952 a Soviet supervisor was permanently stationed at the offices of the Directorate, but since then no Soviet supervision has been exercised over Rumanian broadcasts. 9. The Russians send daily by air a tape recorded in Moscow in Rumanian to the Bucharest broadcast station. The Rumanians also send daily by air a recorded tape in Russian to the USSR, containing news summaries from Rumania. Similar exchanges are carried out with other countries of the Eastern Bloc. 10. Some of the personalities at the Broadcasting Directorate are as follows a. Sara Alterescu was the deputy director of the Broadcasting Directorate 50X1-HUM from 1949 to 1952 Melitfl P,nostol was head of the Directorate from 1954 to 1958 c. Barbu, fnu, is the Secretary of the Party cell at the Directorate. Professor Naftali David, is head of the literary section and processor at the Faculty of Literature at Bucharest University. e. Doctor C. Harry Dona was the deputy director in charge of the technical., supervision., and musical departments from 1952 to 195 g. Hincu, fnu, has been the director of the personnel department since 1957. Iacob, fnu, has been the director of the Special Bureau since 1957. i. Teodor Marinescu has been the deputy director in charge of foreign programs since 1957. j. Mira, fnu, (female) is head of the supervision department: previously hP,' uiinn bUX1-hUIVI 1. Ion Pas has been the head of the Directorate since 1 58 but is only a 50X1-HUM figurehead. 50X1-HUM m. Pietraru, fnu, is head of the Hungarian program section which is under the department for home programs. n. Ion Racoveanu has been the head of the technical department since 1957. He is an engineer. 50X1-HUM C. Ratiu is the director of the Cluj broadcasting station. Mihail Rosianu was head of the Directorate from 1952 to 1951.
