The Rekord Shoe Factory in Riga
1. The Rekord Shoe Factory was located at 137-139 Lenin Street
in Riga. Until the war, the factory was owned by Paflanaki (frin).
After the war it was enlarged and, in 1957, it employed about 800
workers in two ahifts.
2. The plant consisted of the following sections (production
figures are for 1957):
a. Section for high-topped boots made of "Kersa" (Kersoviye
Sapogi). The section, which was equipped with two amta*atic
conveyors, produced 600-700 pairs per shift.

b. Leather shoe section, which produced 1,000-1,100 pairs
of men's and women's shoes per shift. In 1957 an automatic
conveyor was installed in this section.
c. Section for slippers and rubber-soled sports shoes,
which produced 900-1,000 pairs per shift.
d. Cutting section (Zakroyny Tsekh)
e. Press section (Shtamnpovochny Tsekh)
f. Material preparation section (ZagotovitelrV Taekh)
3. Until 1957 the factory prepared all the material required
for the production of leather boots for military officers, producing
about 4,500 such pairs per month. In 1957 this order was transferred
to the Erg].is Factory in Riga. In 1952 the factory had begun modern-
izing its equipment and by 1957 all the sections had modern machinery,
mostly of Czech manufacture.
1. Aleksander Spiridonovich Stepanov had been manager of the
Rekord Shoe Factory since 1955.
