The complex consisted long buildings with high smokestacks equipped with filters. Because the p ant hid t was den by the rees, nothing more could be observed. At the end of 1959, a large number that the area had probably been covered by fallout from the explosion of atomic reactor. All ;:hildren were removed from the area. The construction was begun two years ago. 6. Benzene, toluene, napthalene, and phenol were produced in the coke plants at Nizhniy Tagil and Gubakha. They were also produced in the Kuznets basin at Stalinsk Lnow Novokuznet/, in the Chelyabinsk coke-chemical combine, in the Magnitogorsk coke-chemical combine, and in the Kemerovo coke-chemical combine. There was no coke plant in Novosibirsk, but there was a chemical combine there. 50X1-HUM The Ural Chemical Machine Building Plant was located southeast of Sverdlovsk, along the railroad ,to Chelyabinsk. The plant covered an area of about 100 by 100 meters; the number of workers was not known.
