The armored cupola (diameter about 3m, thickness of wall 20 mm)
has observation slits and entrance hatches.
Crew: 6 - 8 men
Degaussing system: 1 cable for the cargo hold in the side bunkers,
1 cable for the after body.

No radar installations planned. V
Photographs of similar-western vessels have reportedly' been
used for the East German designs.
It has been known for some time that VEB Peenewerft Wolgast
builds landing craft. A detailed description. is given of

Six vessels were to be completed in 1961 and four to six in 1962.
The number allegedly was to be increased.up to 25 units, in the
coming years. While the vessels were under construction, various
defects became apparent at anchors and landing flaps. The yard
management speeded up construction work on the vessels.,-
2. Type ROBBE

Breadth: about .10 m
Theoretical draft: in the fore part 1.1 m in the aft part 2.2 m

Theoretical speed: 14.5 kts
Armament: 2 AA-twin-machine guns, 12.7 mm, in open revolving turrets
at the forecastle

Completion of one vessel was planned for 1961 and at least 5 units
were to be completed in 1962. ,
Comments:
The recently' photographed boat apparently is-'.the first and so far
only one of the units to be afloat. She evidently is .a?LABO 100
type vessel, which, however, differs from the original design. The
vessel was scheduled to be handed over to the East German,Navy as
early as April 1961, but in March 1962, she was still in the trial
run stage. At least two other units have been launched. It appears
improbable. that the East German Navy will have.10 to 12'vessels ready
to operate by late 1962.
It is even doubted that the bigger ROBBE-type is already under
construction.
Propulsion of LABO 100
A comparison with similar landing boats as well as a mathematical
checking showed:that 4 x 120 HP engines are sufficient for a speed
of 10 kt. A higher speed is unlikely as there is not enough room
aboard the vessel to place 4 diesel engines=of 400 HP each side by,
side.
Arament of LABO : 100
The vessels are almost'certainly equipped with 2 twin guns, of 25 mm.
