1. SIGNIFICANCE:
THIS BRIEFING BOARD DEPICTS TWO NEWLY-IDENTIFIED BURIED POL
STORAGE AREAS IN NORTH VIETNAM.
2. R.INAR S:
DURING THE PAST TWELVE MONTHS THERE HAVE APPEARED IN NORTH
VIETNAM, PERHAPS ASA RESULT OF THE U.S. DECISION TO BOMB CERTAIN
EXISTING POL INSTALLATIONS IN THAT COUNTRY, SEVERAL DISPERSED AREAS
OF BURIED POL STORAGE. SEVEN OF THESE AREAS, LOCATED AT CU VAN,
P1-N DUC (TWO AREAS), TUNG TO, DAB ,UAN (TWO AREAS), AND KEP, WERE
DEPICTED ON A PREVIOUS BRIEFING HOARD (SEE NPIC K-6610).

ORE AREA IS LOCATED TWO NN SOUTHWEST OF QUANG SUOI AT,2007N
10552E AFD THE SECOND IS LOCATED 2.8 NM EAST OF SON LA AT 2117N

SLOT BETWEEN TWO KARST HILLS. LARGE NUMBER OF POL DRUMS ARE

ONE THOUSAND YARDS NORTHWEST OF THE BURIED POL TANKS IS A TRANS-
SHiIvU NT POINT CONTAINING POL DRUMS IN OPEN-TOP RAILROAD CARS AND
ADDITIONAL DRUMS STACKED ALONG RAIL SIDINGS.
REVEALS SIX BUNKERS CONTAINING
PROBABLE BURIED POL TANKS LOCATED 2.8 NM EAST OF SON LA, JUST
SOUTH OF ROUTE 6. THE AREA IS FENCE-SECURED AND ATTEMPTS HAVE
BEEN MADE TO CAMOUFLAGE THE BUNKERS AND THE TRAILS LEADING TO THE
AREA. TWO GROUND SCARS, POSSIBL`_ UNFINISHED BUNKERS OR AREAS FROM
WHICH POL TANKS HAVE BEEN REMOVED, ARE ALSO OBSERVED IN THE AREA.
