1. SIGNIFICANCE:
THIS BRIEFING BOARD DEPICTS TWO RIVER CROSSINGS AND BOMB DAMAGE
e
TO A CAMOUFLAGED PONTOON FERRY IN THE BAN DONG AREA OF LAOS.
2. MISSION READOUT:
A. PRE-STRIKE PHOTOGRAPHY OF REVEALS
AN ACTIVE FORD ON ROUTE 92, 0.5 NM NORTHWEST OF BAN DONG, LAOS AT
1637N 10624E (UTM XD508391). A SERVICEABLE FERRY CROSSING IS NOTED
250 YARDS SOUTHEAST OF THE FORD AT UTM XD511389. A CAMOUFLAGED
PONTOON FERRY IS OBSERVED TO BE MOORED ON THE SOUTHWEST BANK OF THE
SE PONE (RIVER), JUST SOUTHEAST OF THE FERRY LANDING, AT UTM XD511389.
B. POST-STRIKE PHOTOGRAPHY OF REVEALS
NO DAMAGE TO EITHER THE FORD OR THE FERRY CROSSING. SEVERAL BOMB
CRATERS ARE NOTED IN THE AREA. THE CAMOUFLAGED PONTOON FERRY IS
DESTROYED WITH TWO PARTIALLY SUNKEN PONTOONS LYING AT THE EDGE OF
THE RIVER BANK.
