With all due respect to General
Wheeler, whom. I like and admire, I do not
like to see you called on a point of fact. We
have gone over very carefully all DMZ
sighting reports since 1 November. The
results are attached herewith. There are
only two claims of company sightings, both
made by ARVN, neither confirmed by U. S.
observers and both suspect. No U. S. unit
or observer has reported a company sighting
to our knowledge. We have not seen
General Wheeler's map but are reasonably
confident that his six plots are included
among the 11 enumerated in the attached
memorandum. If you ever care to see it,
we maintain a completely current wall-sized
map of the DMZ and all activity reported
therein.
