TITLE/SIGNIFICANCE: flew Chinese Produced Transport (Y -10) Identified at Shanghai/Dachang Airfield COMMENT: In late 1970 China made the decision to develop and build a commercial transport aircraft which was designated Y-10. The aircraft is similar in overall appearance to the Boeing 707, but with minor differences. The Y-10 is smaller, lighter and has a different wing (slightly less total wing area and a more noticeably angled trailing edge). Also, the fuselage length forward of the wing is shorter on the Y-10. Despite this effort, China will probably not mass produce the Y-10.
