The port of Registry for all these vessels is Odessa. The SS "Kazbek is a tanker of 12-13,000 tons deadweight, 130 meters long: 16-18 meters wide, draft 23 feet, speed 14-]5 miles. There is a small shipyard in Batum where small fishing trawlers are built. 9. There are; two very large Naval shipyards in Nikolayev. They are the 61_Kommunara ana Zavod No 2, formerly called Andre lfarti. The 61 Kommunara shipyard repairs Navy and Merchant Marine vessels and builds submrines, destroyers, fishing :trawlers. Zavod No 2, builds dry cargo vessels and tankers', also large Navy units such as medium and heavy cruisers, 34-45,000 tons. The same type tan3cers which are built at Zavod No 2 are also built at the Kherson shipyard.. 10. No passenger large-size trawlers have been built in Black Sea shipyards 50X1-HUM a few small tankers transferred from Black Sea ports to the Caspian 50X1-H U M in 1953. One is the SS "Dzhamra+,", a tanker. of 400 tons deadweight and the other the SS "Ukhta" a tanker of 800 tons deadweight. A number of small barges, maybe 100, were transferred from the Black Sea through the Volga-Don Canal to the Cas- pian Sea in the summer of 1953. Their tonnage varied from 100-500 tons. These barges had been built in Hungary and reached Odessa via the Danube River.
