Railway bridge of the Sofia-Plovdiv line crossing the Maritsa Rivetr; this
is the only bridge crossing the river in this area and is the only means
of transportation for foodstuffs and miscellaneous merchand-'s' fc- the
southeast of Bulgaria.
(2) Sugar plant, one of the largest in Bulgaria; it employs approximately
350 workers;
Infantry barracks; in the southern part of this barracks there are
small armored units
several garages used for housin (T 341s), composed of approximately

of 15-20 tanks each; this barracks is known as the 9 Brigade Barracks, t
(4) Parade ground and firing orange of the armed forces; on the western part

is a small barracks which can house approx 300 men and in which is
located a Signal Corps unit; in this barracks there are also IrRstRila
located road casting equipment used by the unit housed in the barracks
described in No. 3 above;
Barracks for the unit of the Ministry of' Interior; in the southern part
of this barracks there are garages;

(6). Dzhenden Tepe: one of the hills within the city of Plovdiv; on the to q
of this hill there is an observation post with anti.-aircraft artillery-
emplacements; at the foot of the hill near the hhrracks of the Ministry
of Interior troops described in No. 5 above, is a small gcverneant
hospital; access to the hill is absolutely prohibited.

shoulder boards) is quartered here;
(9) Bunardzhik Tepe; a high stony, rocky, hill; it is traversed by three

allegedly is used for jamming western radio broadcasts; here too, there
is an antiaircraft battery;

(10) Plovdiv expasit~en area; it is crossed by railway tracks v:iiich are not
shown on the map; when the exposition is closed the buildl'ngs are used
as wqa warehouses;
(11) Voenna Palata; in which are located the services of the general Staff of
the Plovdiv army; there is also an officers' advanced Amit training course
here; the building is 5 stories high, 150-180 meters long and 30-50 meters
wide. Near the main building there are several private homes for housing
approx 70 army men; the building is surrounded by a small garden and has
on the western part of the building
a small square for training the officers; /there is located a new bridge
(east of the building)
which joins the two parts of the city of Plovdiv; .. - there
is the old bridge.
 Sakhat Tepe; a rocky hill; here, too, several tunnels are being excavated
which will be used in time of war as shelters for the more important
services of the city and for the General Staff; On the'top of the hill
there ham been erected a .building in concrete equipped with a low tower
with small windows; this construction of this building was completed
approximately in March 1956; access to this hill is strictly prohibited
and it is guarded by sentries.
Dzhambaz Tepe, a small hill; here, too, tunnels have been excavated,
but access to It is relatively free.

(20) Automobilen Park, a depot for public transportation (busses) of the city
with garages, workshops, etc;
(21) Vagonen Park, depot for railway cars; these are transferred to the railway
station when needed;
(22) LokomOtiven Park, depot for the repair of locomotives;
(23) Stadium;
(24) New stadium located near the Maritsa River;
(25) Area in which is located textile factory which is the largest of its
kind in Bulgaria; approx 3500 workers are employed here;
(26) Area in which is located a factory for the production of canned vegetables
and meat; the major part of the industry of the city of Plovdiv is
concentrated in this area;
