YEMORANDUM FOR ASSISTANT CHIEF OF STAFF, G-2, 1DGS
Subject: Captured Japanese Documents
1. Reference is made to memorandum from your office, dated
24 September 1944, subject as above, requesting twelve (12) en-
listed Japanese language specialists and five (5) intelligence
officers, and to reply dated 3 October 1944,'copy inclosed.
2. The Caucasian enlisted men, referred to in paragraph 1 b
of reply, have arrived at Orlando, and this office has just been
informed that while they speak Japanese, they are unable to read
it. Therefore, they are unsuitable for proposed assignment and
will not be ordered to Camp Ritchie. it this time there is no
enlisted personnel available in AAF for proposed assignment.
3. Authorization for these twelve (12) enlisted men has
been secured in accordance with 'UT No. 445, dated 12 October
1944, copy inclosed. In compliance with paragraph three (3)
of original memorandum from your office, it is requested that
necessary action be taken by Military Intelligence Division to
secure the qualified enlisted personnel required.
4. In reference to your request for officers with special
qualifications, a number of returnee officers are being screened,
and those with the desired qualifications will be ordered in on
temporary duty for interview before being detailed to Camp Ritchie.
