WtMORANEUM FOR THE DIRECTOR OF INTELLIGENCE:
(Through Deputy Chief, M.I.S.)
1. The Pacific Military Intelligence Research Section
(MIRS) was established at Camp Ritchie, Maryland, on 7 Septem-
ber 1944. This or6anization is under the control of tne Com-
manding General, MITC, for administration and discipline. It
is under the control of the Chief, MIS, for operations.*
2. The Pacific MIRS is assigned to the Military Branch,
Research Unit, MIS.
3. All operational policies and broad deciMens concern-
ing procedure, and all projects involving the expenditure of
runds in connection with the operation of this a6ency, will be
submitted to the Chief, MIS, for approval before adoption.
4. rho implementation of a kred policies or procedure
are hereby delegated to the DiFOOtoreviIntelligence. He will
take all appropriate action to iditAwtd.the necessary activi-
ties and develop the Pacific MIR 4b the highest possible state
of efficiency and accomplishment.
5. Periodically the ,iirector of Intelligence will keep
the Chief, MIS, and his Deputy informed orally of progress,
preferably at the morning conferences.
