Reference is made to Tab B Memorandum byrthe Service Members of the Joint intelligence Committee dated 17 July 1944, subject, " ?ordination Of Japanese Air Intelligence" which was approved by informal action if the JCS on 2 August 1944. Under the provisions of the above reference, the of 5., G-2, was charged with the primary responsibility for the final ex Imitation of all captured Japanese documents pertinent to Japanese aviat n and for the formulation ? of a plan to insure best overall results in t e exploitation of all captured Japanese documents. . 2. In order to discharge the assi d responsibility, the AC of S., G-2, ie- established on September 7, 1944, at amp Aitchie, Maryland, the Pacific Military Intelligence Research Section Pacific MIRO. This organization is responsible for the explottion of al captured Japanese documents. Under the provisions of paragraph 12 of the reference ted in paragraph 1 above, the US Navy, the AAF, and the British service agencies are to assist G-2 in the exploitation of captured Japanese document pertinent to apanese aviation with personnel as mutually agreed. It is b& ieved that the basis for participation in the work of exploiation of capture Japanese documents should be the amount and quality of the intelligen derived therefrom by the agencies taking part. This cannot be estimated accur sly until Pacific MIRS has been in operation for several months. The C of 6., G-2, has provided an initial staff of 18 officers and 38 enliste en. It is requested that the CHI provide an initial staff of five off cers and 12 enlisted men from the US Navy. A similar number is being requested from the AAF.
