Subj: Activities of Washington Document Center, period 10 April
to 30 April 1946.
Ref: (a) Op-23-F43 memo dated April 1946, Serial 025E43.
1. As set forth in reference (a), the activities of
Op-23-F431 F141/3 and PACMIRS were consolidated, effective 9 April
1946, into F50
2. During this period, the activities of the section were
devoted primarily to the necessary consolidation, the.sorting and
classification of material in possession of the various units, and
the establishment of subsections of F5 requisite to a joint operation.
3. During the period, 1, 278 pages of documents and manu-
scripts were translated and 9, 468 documents were screened and ab-
stracted; 8 documents were published and 320 copies of documents
were distributed. The process of screening was suspended in order
that the translation back-log which had accumulated could in turn
be processed and proper dissemenation made.
4. As of 30 April 1946 the total Navel personnel of WDIC con-
sisted of the following:
Officers 72
Enlisted 24
British Navy
TOTAL 101
5. It is anticipated that full operations will be in progress
by 15 May 1946.
